Lockheed Martin Research Engineer in Bethesda, Maryland
The Chief Scientist Office (CSO) is responsible for leading Research and Development portfolios for Lockheed Martin around the world in Quantum Computing, Advanced Hypersonics and Advanced Portable Energy Systems. The CSO funds and manages more than a dozen projects domestically and internationally.
With guidance from the Chief Scientist, the Senior Research Engineer will have responsibilities for:
• Managing existing and assist in formulating new R&D projects applying Quantum Information Science to the improvement of LM systems. • Assisting in developing pathways for transition of the results of those projects into LM’s current and envisioned products and manage the execution of those transitions. • Interacting with Business Area Subject Matter Experts across the LM enterprise.
Basic Qualifications - A Ph.D is required in Chemistry, Engineering, Physics or a related scientific field with an emphasis on quantum mechanics – theoretical or experimental dissertation - Research experience and publication record in science or engineering field - Candidates must have a strong desire to develop advanced solutions to complex, cutting-edge problems that range from basic research to deployable solutions that are of interest to LM. - Successful candidates may come from academia, industry, or government, and will have a track record of leading successful R&D efforts from initial concept to realization, experimentation, and transition - Excellent communication and presentation skills - Ability to travel domestically and internationally - Ability to obtain an appropriate US Government security clearance is required
