Lockheed Martin Systems Engineering Manager in Bethesda, Maryland
Become part of our team as an in-country systems engineering manager for the KF-X effort. This program provides technical assistance to Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to develop an advanced, multi-role fighter for the Republic of Korea Air Force. This position will be located in Sacheon, South Korea.
The successful candidate will have proven technical skills in a a position commensurate with a Lockheed Martin exempt level 4 or 5 technical discipline in Aerospace with broad system engineering understanding. Preference will be given to filling this position with someone already in country on the KF-X Program (there is no relocation offered). Additionally, as an L-coded manager, the selected candidate will model Full Spectrum Leadership (FSL) traits with demonstrated performance and positive behaviors. An understanding and commitment to NextGen Aero is key.
Basic Qualifications The successful candidate will meet the following basic requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college with broad system engineering understanding
• 7 years experience experience working on a jet fighter aircraft platform.
• Experience mentoring or training engineers on diverse teams.
Desired skills In addition to supporting technical and system engineering requirements, the position will also support the full arc of successful KF-X Program staffing, performance and behaviors. Experience in the following are desired:
• Position development with the KAI customer • Requisition refinement • Recruitment and encouragement to qualified candidates • Interviews and selection • Resume refinement for KAI review • Deployment preparation • In-country integration • Day-to-day direction and long-term leadership in an international setting • Experience with Export Control Compliance • Timecards and charging direction • Mentoring and career discussions • Training • Awards and disciplinary action • Encouragement of team and KAI camaraderie • Business travel planning and expenses report processing • General employee issue resolution • LMCommitments, periodic reviews, FOCUS compensation planning, and Pay & Performance discussions • Repatriation • Post-KF-X opportunities • and other duties as assigned by KF-X Program and FTO leadership
Demonstrated experience in and an aptitude with these tasks and related skills will be used to identify qualified candidates for this position. While prior L-coded leadership with Lockheed Martin is not strictly required, this is not an entry-level leadership opportunity. The selected candidate should be able to speak to specific leadership experiences in a FSL/behavioral-type interview setting.
