Lockheed Martin Hardware Associate Chief Engineer in Boulder, Colorado

This position will support Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) program contracts which develop, update, or maintain the SBIRS Ground System. The qualified candidate will directly support the SBIRS Ground program as a Hardware Engineering Associate Chief Engineer. The HW ACE is the Ground Segment Technical Authority for the Hardware Baseline as Delegated by Ground Segment Chief Engineer. The HW ACE provides overall Technical Leadership for SBIRS Ground Enterprise HW Development and Sustainment and is responsible for managing the SBIRS Ground HW Technical Baseline. The HW ACE must have strong systems engineering skills and HW domain knowledge. The position requires a systems engineering approach for the full lifecycle HW development process and for HW design analysis, review, selection, and approval of products. The HW ACE provides technical guidance and decision authorities in the end to end process to deliver the required capability, inclusive of cybersecurity and sustainability considerations, prevention of defects and compatibility issues, and to enable new capabilities or updates to transition to Ops with no or minimal impacts to continuous operations. The HW ACE must have the leadership skills and program knowledge to drive work products to required levels of maturity in the lifecycle and to weigh technical solutions in light of stressing and varied system-level requirements, contractual constraints, technical benefits, cost, schedule, and risk impacts, and disposition change requests accordingly. The HW ACE must determine when a structured root cause analysis for product or process failures are required and be able to lead the activity. The HW ACE contributes to the identification of risks and opportunities in the program and the Risk and Opportunity Management process. The HW ACE must maintain coordination with the Ground CE and ACE counterparts. This position will serve as the chair of the Hardware Control Board, represent the HW function at Ground Segment boards, and in coordination with the Ground CE represent the organization at Program Enterprise engineering boards. The successful applicant will be based in Boulder, Colorado with occasional travel to Denver CO, and Schriever AFB as required and will interface with multiple contractor and government development, test, acquisition, and operations organizations.
