System Architect/Engineer. This role is an individual contributor working strategic initiatives for Lockheed Martin’s C4ISR Strategic Command and Control division. This includes engineering technical solutions for customer needs, developing BOE’s and providing accurate labor estimates. Will provide surge support to IRADs and other contracts as needed in between working proposals. Support could include modeling and artifact creating (ICDs, Design Changes, new requirements, etc.). Based on understanding of the design and results of comparisons, use related systems engineering tools and documents to analyze, understand, and propose changes to systems architecture models, systems engineering analyses, user CONOPS & system OPSCONs, and system and interface requirements specs.

Basic Qualifications Candidate should possess the ability to be part of or to lead an integrated team tasked with defining the operational, physical, functional, and technical architecture necessary to develop and describe the vision and desired capabilities for C4ISR’s Strategic Command & Control division’s future opportunities. Skills required include: architecting systems in an environment that leverages existing or COTS/GOTS components with DoD interoperability in mind; identification of desired capabilities, definition of desired capabilities; communicating the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users; and generating architecture artifacts to document and control the achievement of the desired capabilities. Candidate should also have prior experience leading technical teams supporting future concept demonstration and ensuring discriminating capability is completed on-time to fulfill Strategic C2 LRP goals.

Desired skills The Architect must understand systems architecting and architecture models. The candidate will possess at least 12-14 years of experience in a related engineering environment, with solid experience and expertise in systems architecting and system-of-systems definition including the practice of MBSE. Ability to analyze high level needs and systems concepts and represent them in engineering architectural models. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to clearly and effectively present technical approaches and findings. Must be able to work effectively and cooperatively with people within and external to the program.

Desired Skills: Previous market shaping campaign planning and experience with proposals to include developing a basis of estimate (BOE), engineering a solution, technical writing and developing an accurate labor estimate. Certified architect, or equivalent skill level. Ability to function as a chief architect, leading the market shaping technical solution. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. Ability to communicate and interact with various customers and related system programs is essential. Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Identification and definition of desired capabilities, system-of-systems definition, integration practices and methods, understanding and appreciation of information assurance, maintenance, operation, and logistics concerns, and their application to the requirements, design, and development phases.
