This occupation requires the trimming, fitting, aligning, assembling, and setting up of prefabricated, tubular, machined, or formed parts preparatory to welding and the straightening and alignment of warped assemblies and parts after welding.
Basic Qualifications Performs such typical operations as assembling prefabricated parts, which do not result in cumulative distortion or strains in several planes, into welding jigs or fixtures. Straightens sheet metal parts and weld assemblies. Assembles such parts preparatory to welding by fitting, filing, trimming, grinding, and drilling and straightens and aligns them after welding. Assemblies may require only a small amount of correction for stress and distortion.
