This Flight Simulations Software Engineer will work in an aeronautics and military flight simulations environment with cutting edge hardware & systems. This exciting F-35 Flight Simulator work will include working on robust military full flight simulations based on real-time mission conditions and variables.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have a can-do attitude, and be willing to take ownership and grow the capabilities of a very large existing tactical environment. This position will provide an experienced engineer the opportunity to apply their existing knowledge of physics, engineering, and software development skills and grow domain knowledge in the area of tactical flight simulators (including aerodynamics, RADAR, jamming, landing aids, military communication protocols, basic flight maneuvers, tactics, artificial intelligence, etc.).
The engineer will be expected to contribute to the development of new features and resolution of existing defects. This includes contributing to the creation of software requirements/technical specification, implementation, test, and deployment within the bounds of the software processes and practices flowed to the team. The candidate will also collaborate with other teammates and other engineering disciplines, including: hardware engineers, systems engineers, human factors engineers, and program management.
Basic Qualifications Basic Qualifications for this position include a BS Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related technical field and at least 5 years of professional experience or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
• C/C++ computer applications development proficiency is required. • Experience writing software for UNIX / Linux platform is required. • Strong verbal & written communications skills are required. • The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required. • Strong collaboration skills are required. • Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) / High Level Architecture (HLA) • Computer Generated Forces (CGFs) • Object-Oriented Design • Familiarity with Physics Based Systems • The ability to produce robust and accurate simulation software is required.
Must have the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Desired skills Experience or familiarity with any of the following skills or technologies is desired: •C/C++ *UNIX/LINUX •Aerodynamics / Flight Models •Weapon Models (JDAM, JSOW, LGB, GBU, AIM9, AIM120, etc.) • Threat Systems • Avionics Systems •Simulation and modeling •Object-Oriented Design • PERL • SQL • XML • Shell scripting • Java • Familiarity with Physics Based Systems • Familiarity with Sensor Systems (EO, IR, RADAR, EW) • Familiarity with radio, weather, weapons, fly-out models, and/or aeronautical concepts • Development in parallel processing environments (multi-threaded or multi-process)
