Lockheed Martin Software Engineer - Redhat Enterprise Linux in Huntsville, Alabama
Candidate will be primary Redhat Enterprise Linux application software engineer for the THAAD Ground Systems Software team. This position reports to the THAAD Fire Control Tactical Software Items Manager. Assignments will be defined collaboratively by the THAAD Fire Control Tactical Software Items Manager in consultation with the software Item lead engineers and software architect. Primary responsibilities are (1) to plan, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain Redhat Enterprise Linux as the host operating system for the THAAD Fire Control software system, (2) contribute to the development of mission critical software, (3) contribute to the development of tools and scripts for integration of heritage software items with Redhat Enterprise Linux environment, (4) identification of technical aspects of work that needs to be done to make the team successful, and (5) provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior technical staff.
Basic Qualifications - 10 years experience developing, implementing, and sustaining large-scale, mission critical software systems utilizing multiple operating systems - Demonstrated experience converting real-time applications from heritage operating system to Redhat Linux or equivalent Linux operating system. - Experience designing and implementing mission critical software using Linux operating system. - Demonstrated experience as technical expert working in a product development team. - Experience with structured implementation of work. - Knowledge of Linux operating system and how it works. - Proven ability to solve architectural problems. - Solid C and C++ development and debugging skills. - Experience with clustered computing environments and distributed file systems. - Experience dealing with scaling issues and distributed design.
Desired skills - Battle Management, Command and Control software design, implementation, test, and maintenance experience. - Exposure to the full software development life cycle of requirements, design, coding, testing, delivery, and maintenance. - Experience in requirements development and/or analysis for software-to-software and software-to-hardware interfaces. - Technical team leadership. - Experience with Risk & Opportunity Management Process. - Labor estimation for team's current and future tasks. - Basis of estimation development for software portion of proposals, change orders, & estimates to complete. - Knowledge of and experience with the THAAD Fire Control software. - Knowledge of and experience with the Missile Defense Agency.
