Lockheed Martin CNC Machinist in Littleton, Colorado
Performs multiple duties in the machine shop including, programming, tool selection, part set-ups and operating a variety of machine shop equipment, including manual mills, manual lathes and CNC mills and lathes. Using MasterCAM to program, select tools and operations, the employee will set-up CNC equipment and verify part conformance to either blue prints or engineering models. Employee will monitor the operation of CNC equipment, inspect parts using micrometers, calipers and surface plate inspection equipment and make necessary adjustments to offsets to maintain part quality throughout the run.
Basic Qualifications Create efficient CNC programs from engineering drawings and/or 3D models using MasterCAM Ability to program 3D toolpaths Advanced knowledge of GD&T Knowledge of material properties and machining characteristics Able to select appropriate cutting tools for programmed operations Knowledge of proper speeds and feeds for cutting tools and materials being cut Able to set up CNC equipment using best shop practices Able to operate manual machine shop equipment Able to work independently with minimal supervision Advanced knowledge of machine shop inspection tools More than 10 years of hands on machining experience with CNC machine tools
Desired skills Helpful but not required: Graduate from an accredited technical institution with an Associate degree in machining technology Wire EDM programming and operation Operation of manual Jig Bores Experience with material characteristics and machining on a variety of materials including aluminum, titanium, stainless steels, high temp alloys and a variety of plastics/composites 5 axis experience
