Test or “workhorse” blankets are also designed to aid in “proof of concept” and engineering development tests to verify grounding compliance as well as thermal performance. The thermal blanket designer uses computer-aided design equipment and tools to translate the multi-layer insulation (MLI) coverage requirements developed via the thermal engineering models and analyses, and the EMI and Survivability requirements defined by Systems Engineering, and the RF requirements defined by Antenna Engineering, into drawings that are used by manufacturing to fabricate the thermal blankets, by Quality Assurance to inspect the thermal blankets, and by I&T to install the thermal blankets. The position also includes technical consultation for thermal blanket installation and Change Task (CT) support following the initial release of the MLI drawings.
