This position supports the P220 Mission Assurance and Electrical Systems Engineering teams in the design, test, and verification of electrical and electronic hardware. The work will focus on the integrity of electrical/electronic designs, interfaces, and components and will include independent assessments of designs’ integrity, completeness, and compatibility from a module, unit, subsystem, and/or system perspective. Independent assessments will be conducted with the goal of representing the customer’s mission assurance imperatives and of improving designs through ensured compliance with LMSSC Design Standards, applicable AIAA standards, and rigorous early verification and design-informing activities.
The selected applicant will be responsible for ensuring electrical designs and design products are comprehensive, design-affirming, and error-free, as well as for contributing to and/or reviewing all features of electrical/electronic designs with an acute focus on the execution and review of worst case circuit analyses. Successful candidates must be able to integrate across product teams (e.g. C&DH, EPS, ACS, communications, payloads, etc.) and to work autonomously, proactively, and effectively with in-house and subcontractor designers, LM senior management, and customer representatives. The candidate should have sufficient experience and expertise to identify different solutions to problems/challenges as they relate to mature/existing design hardware or evolving design hardware and the variants often encountered between/among subcontractors’ design approaches.
Basic Qualifications • Electrical systems engineering experience including requirements derivation, analysis, and test • Experience interacting with external stakeholders including other contractors and customers and those in the supply chain • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain issues at both a technical and non-technical level • TS/SCI with CI Poly prior to start
Desired skills • Complex electrical/electronic design experience • Experience in the design development and integration of space vehicle electronics • Hands-on troubleshooting experience associated with the production (manufacture and test) of sophisticated electrical/electronic equipment• Experience in the AI&T phase of a spacecraft program • Experience in the preparation and review of electrical design verification analyses (worst case circuit analyses, compatibility analyses, power stability/transient analyses, etc.) • BS or higher degree from an accredited college in Electrical Engineering
