Come Explore with Us! We’re looking for a senior manager and technical lead to help us change this world by sending humans to another one. Lockheed Martin has been on Mars since 1976 with Viking, and we’re working now to develop the software and systems which will take humans back to the Moon and on to Mars. The Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Software Integration Multidisciplinary (SWIM) Team lead is responsible for the ultimate production of the Orion GN&C subsystem which will carry humans into deep space. This senior manager will be responsible for leading the team of Orion GN&C subsystem and software engineers through subsystem design, test, verification, ground operations, and flight. GN&C team responsibilities include systems engineering, code and unit test, verification, validation, hardware/software integration, systems integration, ground and flight operations, ground and flight crew training, and sustainment of the GN&C subsystem including flight software. Areas of responsibility include: • Automated and manual piloting • Hypersonic entry • High-thrust missile aerodynamics and active attitude control • Target-relative navigation and rendezvous and docking • GPS, DSN, and optical-based inertial navigation • Thrust vector control • Three-body targeting and guidance • Orbital mechanics • Mechanism and component pointing including solar arrays and phased array antennas

Basic Qualifications Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills 10 years of large-scale safety-critical guidance, navigation, and controls system development Embedded system flight software life cycle experience. 5 years of performing hardware/software integration Formal Coded Leadership experience

Desired skills Experience on programs with active and continuous customer involvement. Experience with data-driven system architectures and flexible mission implementation highly desired. Candidate should have familiarity with managing development teams across multiple configuration baselines and geographical locations. Experience with Orion Avionics & SW Architecture Familiarity with the Orion mission requirements and experience in human spaceflight flight software development Matlab/Simulink environment experience. Model-based software experience. Embedded C++ experience.
