Mechanical Engineer Staff for the Military Support Program Mechanical Products team.

The candidate will drive development of satellite mechanical configurations and bus/payload equipment layouts. Must collaborate effectively with program leadership, technical leadership, subject matter experts, peers, analysis, configuration control, procurement, planning and production.

Specific tasks and responsibilities include the following. • Generate and release MCAD models, fabrication drawings and installation / assembly drawings using CREO/EPDM to support production and test of space vehicle equipment. • Ensure design integrity through rigorous stakeholder/SME review and adherence to company guidelines. • Ensuring effective integration of all subsystems to meet system-level requirements. • Perform equipment layout and assembly tolerance studies, interference checks, and manage review and incorporation of component ICDs. • Represent the team internally with other organizations and externally with customers and suppliers.

Basic Qualifications '• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field +9 years experience, or Master of Science Degree +7 years experience • Extensive mechanical flight hardware design, modeling and drafting experience with ASME Y14.5 / GD&T proficiency • Experience with mechanical layout of satellites such as placement or packaging of payloads, antennae, harness, bus components, and thermal management. • Solid understanding of the interdependencies between satelite components/subsystems and ability to quickly comprehend and communicate impact of proposed design changes • Capable of creating and managing Interface Control Drawings (ICD)/Interface Control Models (ICM) process and leading internal/external review and closure • Familiarity with satellite integration processes • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and documentation including machining, fabrication and assembly • Knowledge of other engineering disciplines such as stress, dynamics, thermal analysis, production, ATLO, electronics, systems engineering, etc. • Demonstrated commitment to development and deployment of productivity improvements and leveraging new technologies • Proficient with MCAD modeling, drafting and release, Creo/Windchill (EPDM) preferred • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills • Active TS/SCI w/ poly clearance

Desired skills • Experience using CAD models as record of authority (Data Set Rating 4 and/or 6) • Familiarity with Lockheed Martin specifications/tools/procedures • Experience working with internal/external suppliers • Experience with test methods, planning and execution • Knowledge of composite structure design and fabrication • Experience with DOORS (Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System) and Sharepoint • CPE or equivalent training/experience • Technical leadership experience
