Lockheed Martin Mechanical Engineer in Littleton, Colorado
The Stress Analysis Engineer will be responsible for: Performing preliminary and detailed level stress analysis of aerospace electronic components, spacecraft structures, mechanisms, and test fixturing using standardized processes and tools. Providing stress analysis technical memos and reports and input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews. Presenting resultant stress analysis data to product team and customers. Providing test input/instrumentation data to environmental test personnel and collaborating with lead engineering personnel to interpret/correlate static test results. Understanding and incorporating other applicable mechanical (thermal, materials, etc.) and system level requirements/parameters into the stress analyses. Supporting development weight-optimized, compliant flightworthy components and structural assemblies which satisfy the contractural design criteria as well as any producibility requirements defined by Manufacturing and Quality.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in a Civil/Mechanical Engineering/Structural Mechanics program or equivalent from an accredited college/university. A Master's degree is strongly preferred for this position. Advanced stress analysis capability using NASTRAN and finite element modeling using NX or equivalent is required. Microsoft Office (Excel, WORD, PowerPoint). Knowledge of and applicable experience with spacecraft or aircraft structural analysis methods, hand calculation experience for mechanical joints. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Desired skills Ability to work in a collaborative and highly integrated team environment. Ability and desire to work independently with minimum supervision and assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficiently. Advanced Static and/or non-linear analysis experience. Experience with the structural and fatigue analysis of electronic components. NX experience, mechanisms, antenna, and/or component analysis experience. Experience with Mathcad and CREO. Static, vibration, acoustic, modal, shock test experience of aerospace flight hardware.
