Software and Solution Architect to join the Advanced Programs Intelligence Systems Architecture team. The Architect is responsible for developing and maintaining multiple ground software architectures and preliminary and detailed design products consistent with the existing ground portfolio programs and multiple future pursuits and growth areas. The Architect is responsible for ensuring the design and its implementation satisfies the mission, as defined in the requirements baseline and operations concepts; resolving systemic design & implementation issues; and providing design, implementation and integration technical direction and guidance. The Architect will be responsible for working with other areas of SSC and LM to coordinate, develop and propose multiple cross business area solutions and ideas. In addition to software and solution architecting, the successful candidate will be responsible for competitive and follow on proposal generation to include technical volume authorship, BOEs, and hardware estimation. There is an opportunity for the right successful candidate to lead a R&D portfolio consisting of five engineers, developing machine learning and ABI algorithms and applications.

Qualified candidate will have several years (2-5) of system architecture experience for software systems and 7-9 years total experience in software systems. Candidate should have experience with mission analysis and design of systems in secure and multi-security level environments and Java development experience. Candidate will have experience developing solutions and systems to meet customer needs through leveraging of existing systems, concepts, and solutions including IRAD.

Candidate must possess demonstrated experience in software system architecture as well as the ability to properly prioritize, status, and work multiple tasks. Must be a proficient communicator to all skill levels, and be able to work in a variety of environments. Applicants are expected to contain and maintain proficiency in current and emerging technologies and employ those technologies as applicable while serving as technical resource to government and contractor personnel. Previous experience using Architecture Based Design is desired.

Candidate must be able to lead diverse team of highly skilled engineers, including junior and senior engineers and subcontractors. Applicants should be able to mentor junior Systems and Software Engineers in proper Engineering discipline and process. Applicants should expect to be assigned tasks to investigate, propose solutions for, and close on technical topics of interest to the customer and to the program. Applicants are expected to have and maintain proficiency in current and emerging technologies and employ those technologies as applicable while serving as technical resource to government and contractor personnel. Strong ability to work as a member of a small highly skilled team is required. The position requires an individual with the ability to work on technical problems and to provide innovative solutions. The candidate must possess demonstrated experience in architecture, work under general supervision. Candidate must also be a proven self-starter with the ability to task ownership of assigned tasks and independently determine the approach to develop solutions.

Previous experience with mission management, command and control, mission processing, domain and customer base is highly desired.

Basic Qualifications Ability and willingness to obtain SCI access. Project leadership experience. Experience developing solutions for software systems, including interconnections between multiple systems Extremely comfortable leading and/or supporting multiple projects simultaneously. Experience planning, conducting, and/or coordinating systems engineering activities in support of the software development life cycle. Ability to express end-user needs in terms of architecture and/or system requirements. Familiarity with configuration management principles including software release tools/processes and management of data. Ability to document and test software that contains logical and/or mathematical solutions to end-user problems. Awareness of architecture modeling and documentation tools. Ability & willingness to generate documentation to accompany developed software. Willingness and demonstrated ability to support proposal activities to win follow-on business. Awareness of NSIS standards, processes, procedures, and tools used throughout the software development life cycle. NSIS standards includes site surveys, PSA, PSR and required CDRLs. Able to support occasional business travel requirements as determined by the organization. Excellent communication skills, both in presenting and writing. Must be comfortable working both independently and in a collaborative team environment. Ability to quickly respond to requests for information or analysis. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to prioritize time and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Desired skills Domain knowledge of the mission needs of consumers of NTM data in the Intelligence Community. Experience performing systems engineering activities spanning all phases of the software development lifecycle, particularly component level reviews/meetings (SRR, CDR, TRR, etc.). Experience implementing / using Model Based Systems Engineering Tools and Processes. Comfortable testing and deploying software to production environments. Demonstrated ability to develop algorithms for implementation in software. Java programming ability & knowledge of Oracle or other relational databases.  Object-oriented programming experience. Knowledge of the UNIX and/or widows programming environment & UNIX shell scripting. Experience with configuration management principles including software release tools/processes and management of data.  Experience with DOORS. Experience modeling system architectures with DoDAF and SysML tools (Rhapsody, Cameo). Experience generating BOEs / ROMs. Ability to apply appropriate NSIS standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. NSIS standards include site surveys, PSA, PSR and required CDRLs. Familiarity with the needs of consumers of NTM data in the Intelligence Community, and experience working with end users to translate capability needs into software system requirements. Knowledge of NTM data sources and system Concepts of Operations (CONOPS).  Knowledge of NTM subject matter sufficient to develop requirements/prototypes to be developed in mission applications.  Experience supporting multiple technical efforts concurrently. Experience presenting interfacing with customers in working level meetings. Project leadership experience. SSC Capture process experience. SSC IRAD process experience. Software delivery experience. Experience leading a team using Agile methodologies for software development. Past proposal writing experience including Technical and Management volume authorship and generating Bases of Estimates. Strategy development experience including creating, maturing, and executing a strategy to mature software and/or concepts from idea to operations. Strong Java development experience including creating SOAP and RESTful APIs, implementing server-side processing algorithms, and unit testing with JUnit (TDD experience is a plus). Web development experience utilizing a Web Application framework (e.g. Express, Ruby on Rails, etc.), as well as HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, and CSS. Experience with JavaScript. Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Couchbase, Redis, Cassandra, etc.). Experience with common collaborative development tools including Git, JIRA, Redmine, etc. Experience evaluating and implementing open-source software and libraries into software baseline. Experience with cloud services, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
