Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor building the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, NASA’s first spacecraft designed for long-duration, human-rated deep space exploration. Orion will transport humans to interplanetary destinations beyond low Earth orbit, such as asteroids, the moon and eventually Mars, and return them safely back to Earth.
Space Systems Company seeks System Integration and Test engineer to support Orion vehicle Avionics and European Space Module integration and testing in the Integrated Test Laboratory at Lockheed’s Wateron Facility.
The System Integration and Test Engineer will be responsible for design, development, testing and engineering associated with the Orion Test Laboratory Facilities, Test Equipment, Systems and Subsystems. The primary Test Facilities are located in Denver Colorado, with satellite facilities located in Houston TX and at Kennedy Space Center, FL.
The System Integration and Test Engineer will be responsible for concepts and detail design of electrical systems and test equipment with a focus on design optimization and ease of manufacturing. Generates engineering designs and drawings per electrical industry standards and practices. Ensures completed drawings are clear, complete, and conform to standards, processes, specifications. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design.
This is a lead engineering position that will require the day to day managing and leading a team of engineers, technicians, subcontractors and other teammates in the installation, integration and testing of the European Service Module (ESM) avionics, EGSE, and SW components. This position will also facilitate the release of engineering drawings, delivering and receiving of HW/SW, production orders and detailed work instructions necessary to perform the task description above.
Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology or other related technical degree programs. • Experienced in project management. • Strong background in troubleshooting integrated systems • Requirements based electrical hardware design experience • Development of Test Plans, Procedures, and/or Detailed Work Instructions
Desired skills • Experience with Microsoft Office products including MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio • Cradle or Doors requirements management experience (or comparable application) • Proficient with product lifecycle management software Wind chill 9.1 • Familiar with Zuken, Pro-E • Experience with Orion or other NASA/DOD Space Programs • Real-time and embedded systems integration experience • Development of Detailed schedules and execution • Ability to work independently as well as a team setting • .Ability to present and communicate effectively to a broad technical community
