Lockheed Martin Technical Writer - Newark, NJ in Newark, New Jersey
Responsible for creating, writing and maintaining various types of user documentation, including how-to guides, references, manuals, quick reference sheets, and instructions.
The technical document writer will be performing the following. •Rewrite of the Radio Section of the safety manual •Rewrite of the Radio Operations section of all the construction manuals •Rewrite of the RF procedures and training •Rewrite of the Signal One section of the safety manual and creation of training manuals •Creation process flows, internal training documents and policy and procedures for MCM CommShop (Asset & Work Management) •Creation of process flows, internal training documents and policy and procedures for Genesis •Creation of process flows, internal training documents and policy and procedures for Zetron consoles •Creation of process flows and internal manuals or MotoMapping. (Handles the spatial boundaries and automatic channel changing to eliminate manual) •Creation of process flows and internal training documents and policies and procedures for NICE voice logging. •Creation of process flows and internal training documents and policies and procedures for WAVE. (Used to interact with smartphones) •Documentation of specifications for reports which will be created in Crystal or internal applications. •Update any ‘Operational Excellence Model’ documents.
Basic Qualifications •Explain scientific and technical ideas in simple language. •Meet with end-user representatives, vendors, supervisors and managers to establish technical specifications. •Study drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples. •Create user documentation for a variety of material, including how-to guides and instruction manuals. •Ensure technical verbiage is easy to understand by the layperson. •Gather information on their subjects in libraries and on the web. •Prepare charts, graphs, or forms to go along with rough drafts. •Ensure fields flow in the correct sequence. •Write clear and concise policies and procedures. •Edit existing documentation. •Submit copies to managers for feedback. •Adjust copy as necessary and proofread for grammar and spelling. •Follow a document development life cycle. •Release the document following final approval. •Develop online tutorials. •Provide updates and different editions as necessary.
Desired skills •Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation •Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail •Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures •Excellent written skills in English •Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
