Lockheed Martin Manufacturing Engineer Senior Staff / Precision Machine Shop / Subject Matter Expert / Orlando, FL in Orlando, Florida

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Senior Staff level Manufacturing Engineer/Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting the Machining Operations Center (MOC) within the Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) facility located in Orlando, FL. MOC produces ultra-precision machined components that are the foundation of infrared and electro-optical targeting systems used primarily for defense applications. The parts supplied by this center support sales in excess of $1B annually.

The successful candidate for this position will have demonstrated technical and leadership skills with a deep and broad experience in the discipline of manufacturing engineering in the areas of multi-axis precision machining, EDM, grinding, metrology, assembly, heat treatment, and other special processes.

Primary Responsibilities include: •Continuously assessing machine tool trends, methods, systems, and ancillary equipment that will strengthen and expand MFC’s competitive technological edge in the products we produce and the industries we serve. •Develop and prepare capital plans, business case analysis, and justifications for annual corporate investment frequently exceeding $5M/year. •Identify, initiate and execute Internal Research and Development (IRAD) projects/tasks which may lead to unique capabilities or advantages in our products and/or processes. •Lead continuous product quality and performance improvements across the enterprise through advances in technology, methods and systems. •Contribute, advocate and inspire a learning culture.

Basic Qualifications •Thorough knowledge of multi-axis machine tool (CNC lathes, CNC mills, mill-turns, etc.) designs, construction, systems, capabilities, limitations, accuracies and repeatability. •In-depth expertise with the methods, cutting tools, fixtures, and gauges used in the manufacture and acceptance of complex prismatic components made from wrought and cast aluminum alloys, stainless steels, titanium and other common aerospace alloys. •Thorough understanding of special processes (heat treatment, conversion coatings, passivation, organic coatings, etc.). •Advanced ability to read and interpret complex detail drawings and specifications. •Comprehensive understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). •Proficient utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) – PTC Creo or equivalent. •Effective project management and leadership skills. •Advanced knowledge of precision measuring tools, gauges, and equipment. •Experience working on projects with teams as a leader and participant. •B.S. in engineering - Mechanical, Metrology, Material Science

Desired skills •PTC Creo CAD/CAM •Windchill PLM •Proficient with Lean Six Sigma tools, including Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC). •Black or Green Belt certification. •Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. •Conversant with ISO9000 and AS9100 industry standards, and common military specifications. •Evidence of written and verbal technical skills through publications, white papers, presentations •M.S. in engineering - Mechanical, Metrology, Material Science
