The successful candidate will have experience working in a flight test environment. Typical duties at the Aeronautics Advanced Development Program (ADP) Skunk Works in Palmdale, CA. include flight test planning support; systems administration and management support of command and control systems including integration of large software systems with high-end COTS, some custom hardware, interfacing to complex communications systems, and support in fixed-facility and transportable configurations; Mission support, including mission rehearsal, simulation support, pre-flight analysis, ground and flight test card execution; comms management and post-flight data review/analysis are included, but not exclusive, duties and responsibilities of this position. Will conduct test missions and provide technical support to a flight test team of aircrew, control room engineers and subject matter experts during flights.
The position additionally may require control and tracking of aircraft configuration, issuance, and closure of documentation relating to work performed on the aircraft, coordination of aircraft modifications, coordinating and staging of support equipment, and coordinating with other organizations associated with test readiness. The applicant must be able to effectively communicate, direct, interact and lead other test team members to achieve test success. Understanding of aircraft systems and capabilities, with multiple systems using embedded software and integrated avionics, is needed in order to assist in the development of realistic test procedures and execution. Will also help develop and maintain training curriculum and syllabus, train less experienced team members, and maintain training records.
Travel, overtime, odd shifts, and weekend work may be required. Must possess ability to interface with all levels of Combined Test Force and customer management. Flight Test facility requirements stand up and control room and supporting architecture management preferred.
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. For this particular position an active Top Secret security clearance, with a current background investigation is preferred.
Must be a US Citizen . This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Must have a Top Secret to start and be able obtain a Top Secret SCI clearance
Bachelor's or above degree with 4-6 years plus of professional experience.
Aeronautical engineering experience.
Aircrew experience and crew or control room resource management (CRM) experience.
Flight Test experience working within a Combined Test Force (CTF) environment is beneficial.
Demonstrated above average verbal and written communication skills.
Experience working as part of a cross-functional team of experts.
Self-motivated, independent, ability to prioritize and multi-task, strong sense of personal accountability; and strive for continuous self-improvement.
Experience with MS Office applications and toolsets, experience working with LM applications and other electronic tools.
Able and willing to accommodate a dynamic environment, work schedule, overtime and weekends
