Lockheed Martin Safety Engineer Staff in Palmdale, California

Interprets and implements health and safety compliance programs, customer requirements and company policies. Manages safety programs: emergency action plan, lock out tag out, machine guarding, contractor safety, and other Cal OSHA programs as needed. Performs incident and close call investigations, prepares injury data and reports. Works with internal functions to resolve health and safety issues. Reviews new equipment, processes and aerospace programs to ensure compliance. Participates in internal audits and external inspections with regulatory agencies. May lead teams and utilize root cause analysis, A3 and other tools to resolve problems. Supports employee engagement activities and events, and the Palmdale General Safety Committee. Prepares and presents briefs to senior leadership. Occasional travel and off-shift/weekend emergency coverage/response may be required.

Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience in Health and Safety programs Experience working in an Industrial or Manufacturing environment.

Desired skills Certified Safety Professional (CSP). Proven experience leading projects and resolving complex problems. Lean manufacturing knowledge and certifications. Microsoft Office Access Database experience a plus. Knowledge of DoD explosives management standards, crane safety and electrical safety. Excellent communicator, problem solver and team player. Experience working in a Union Bargaining Agreement environment. Can manage multiple programs and work in a fast-paced environment.
