Lockheed Martin Senior Optical Thin Films Engineer in Santa Rosa, California

Designs and fabricates thin film interference filters covering the range from 0.2 to 20 micrometers using a variety of deposition techniques, primarily Reactive Sputtering. Provides technical support and basic project management on both R&D and Production contracts. Mentors and trains entry level engineers and manufacturing technicians. Key technical contact to internal Program Managers as well as customers and vendors.

Basic Qualifications Expertise using one or more thin film design tools such as TFCalc, OptiLayer, FilmStar, FilmWizard. Experience leading projects meeting budget, schedule and technical requirements. Good written and oral communication skills * Experience writing proposals and technical papers * Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and colleagues at all levels within the organization Expertise in Reactive Magnetron Sputtering Familiarity with analytical and Project Management techniques/tools, such as Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, MS Project Scheduling, Vis-NIR-IR Spectrophotometers, Profilometry, Interferometry, FTIR

Desired skills Experience with various other deposition techniques: * Low Pressure CVD * Ion-assisted E-Beam Deposition * Ion Beam Sputtering * RF Sputtering Familiarity with various analytical and Project Management techniques/tools: * Design to cost * Advanced Analysis tools such as Auger-Electron Spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction, Variable Angle Scanning Ellipsometry, Atomic Force & Scanning Electron Microscopy, Rutherford Backscatter Spectroscopy
