Lockheed Martin Design Engineer Sr in Shelton, Connecticut

The Airframe Design Engineering organization is seeking a highly motivated, flexible individual with proven technical ability and business judgment to become an Airframe Design Lead. The selected candidate will provide direction to a small group of Airframe Design Engineers and/or offload work assignments to a Design Center. The goal is to accomplish work statements in accordance with standard work processes on schedule, within budget and with utmost quality. Primary responsibilities include technical and process leadership. The Airframe Design Lead will be responsible for interfaces with other Engineering departments for the technical output of the group. The Lead will ensure that the design team is properly integrating with other functional disciplines to achieve a balanced design that meets or exceeds contracted requirements. Layouts and drawings will be prepared using CATIA V5 and other design tools as required. This individual will need to foster lessons learned; identify training needs and provide mentoring to develop less-experienced team members. The individual will actively engage in continuous quality improvement through root cause analysis and corrective action processes and the use of other Continuous Improvement (CI) tools.

Basic Qualifications BS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering required. 5+ years of Airframe design experience of Primary and Secondary structure.

Desired skills Proficiency in CATIA V5 and LCA is required. Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is mandatory. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Understanding of Sikorsky drawing systems and formats is a plus. Working knowledge of CATIA V4 and CADRA is a plus. Candidate should be proficient in all processes associated with the design of composite structures, machined fittings and sheet metal support structure. In addition, applicant should be experienced in the development, test, production and field support of military aircraft.
