Lockheed Martin Manager, Analytics Development in Shelton, Connecticut

Department Overview: LM RMS Analytics, Prognostics Health Management and Artificial Intelligence (APAI) team develops and applies technology, processes and expertise to aircraft data in order to drive proactive decision-making throughout the business. Data generated from on-board health usage and monitoring system (HUMS), aircraft operations, and aircraft maintenance is collected, conditioned and analyzed to identify opportunities for improvements to an aircraft’s design and supportability. The ultimate goal of the analytics team is to increase the availability of supported aircraft, reduce operational costs and to enable a strategic business shift to condition-based maintenance and optimizations.

Position Overview: This position, reports directly to the senior manager of the analytics department, is critical to the development and expansion of analytical capabilities and technologies to support the helicopter fleets. The day-to-day responsibilities for this role may include the following: customer engagement, analytics development & deployment for commercial & military fleet customers, program reviews & reports, workforce planning, performance management etc. The successful candidate will work in conjunction with other elements of APAI team, customers and program management offices to identify & create the best analytics capabilities that satisfies various program objectives.

Specific Responsibilities:

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader to help shape and build the analytics capabilities supporting the commercial & military aircraft fleets. This leadership role manages a team of analysts / data scientists, handling project execution tasks and developing/conducting analytics, specifically:

  • Communicate with customers to understand requirements and produce outputs aligned with strategic business objectives, within schedule and budgetary constraints.

  • Pursue, analyze and interpret fleet data leading to development and implementation of predictive models / forecasting and decision optimization.

  • Work to proactively identify impending fleet issues, propose solutions, validate results and monitor success

  • Evolve predictive analytics capability for the various fleets/ programs.

  • Conduct continuous research to identify new analytical capabilities

  • Work with customer and program offices to develop proposals supporting customer fleets.

  • Mentor other employees

Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Engineering, Math/Stats or a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.

A proven capability of effectively leading diverse, virtual teams is required. Strategy development and execution skills are required. Proven effective interpersonal, communication and customer interaction skills are required. Proven Ability to formulate and execute organizational level vision and strategy is required

Minimum 8 years of professional experience, and 3 years of professional experience managing a team.

Desired skills Strong problem-solving capabilities; ability to devise solutions for complex business problems Experience with data mining/analysis tools (e.g. Python, R, SAS, JMP, Matlab, Tableau, Oracle SQL, SQL Server, Excel) Experience with multivariate statistical analysis, machine learning and big data solutions. Experts with all phases of the project lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, development, deployment, and support Strong project management skills Adept to coordinate team activities with aggressive deadlines Self-starter with can-do attitude and a strong sense of ownership Demonstrated capabilities working with interdisciplinary teams and customers to devise and implement solutions Familiarity with aircraft support/engineering concepts Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
