Specific Job Description Individual works in a production environment to address problems and challenges encountered during missile handling, assembly, disassembly, inspection, testing and repair operations. The position includes evaluation of missile hardware drawings and associated specifications to determine acceptability of discrepant parts and various operations/tests performed. Candidate provides functional, dimensional and material analysis of missile hardware. Additionally the position is very involved with missile processing documentation and program requirements to determine compliance, corrections and improvements. On a routine basis the candidate works directly with the hands-on missile assemblers as well as supporting LM and Navy personnel to address technical questions on missile design and associated production processes. Candidate also serves as a lead integrator during material review board actions to coordinate with various supporting FBM engineering sites across the country when special analysis and investigations are needed. The job duty does not include design engineering work however must have ability to understand existing product designs and recommend changes to our design engineering teams.
Missile production is a major aspect of the job duty but also includes development of both simple and complex engineering studies that involve process/product root cause and corrective action, data/metrics analysis and targeted program system/process improvements.
Position is at the Navy's Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific in Silverdale, WA and requires support to day and swing shift hours. Occasional overtime weekend support is also needed. Some travel is expected to other FBM sites. Candidate is expected to be able to perform independently and in a team environment under the general direction of a group lead
Basic Qualifications 1) Bachelor's degree in a Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or other related Engineering degree program from an accredited college/university 2) Ability to qualify for and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance; Interim Secret required at start. 3) Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
Desired skills 1) Experience in a manufacturing or production environment 2) Familiarity with material review process and control and disposition of nonconforming hardware 3) Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills 4) Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills 5) Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications 6) Recent applicable security clearance 7) Demonstrated ability to accomplish assignments independently
