Lockheed Martin SEPG Staff System Engineer in Stratford, Connecticut

The System Engineering Department is seeking an experienced engineer to join the System Engineering Process Group (SEPG) to participate in process improvement activities.

The engineer should be a highly motivated, flexible, and results-focused individual with project management skills. Strong communication/interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, distributed team environment are critical. The engineer needs to have a strong process aptitude and demonstrated advocacy for continuous improvement with familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. ACE, 6-Sigma, Lean). Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO, INCOSE, CMMI, and IEEE is beneficial.

The responsibilities of the Systems Engineer include assisting with process improvement planning, implementation, deployment, and support of standard work across all product lines. It also includes participating in the policy and procedure integration with heritage Lockheed Martin to establish a common set of processes.

The system engineer will participate improving engineering wide and system engineering processes and methodologies. These processes include but not limited to Project Planning and Estimating, Requirements Development and Management, Risk Management, System Integration and Issue Resolution, Verification Planning and Execution, Measurement and Analysis, Engineering Project Management, Trade Study Activities and Technical Milestone Reviews.

This position provides a unique opportunity for an engineer to gain a breath of knowledge and participate in the evolution of Sikorsky’s Engineering and Technology future state.

Basic Qualifications Qualifications:  BS degree in an engineering discipline or relevant experience with a master’s degree. Formal education in System Engineering or Project Management is a plus. Minimum of 9 years of experience required.

Desired skills In-depth knowledge of system engineering process is desired. Experience in model based system engineering is a plus. Experience in process development, process management and continuous improvement methodologies are desired. Green belt or black belt certification is desired. Strong technical background and leadership skills are required. Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, interpersonal, networking and organizational skills required. Solid project management skills are beneficial.
