Lockheed Martin Systems Engineer in Stratford, Connecticut
An Engineer is required to provide technical support of commercial Marketing, Sales, and Business Development efforts. The engineer will support the definition of new commercial option installations to meet specific customer needs and will support product definition process improvement efforts. The engineer will be required to interface with new customers, suppliers, as well as internal departments (Airframe, Electrical/Avionics, system and aircraft attributes) to satisfy customer configuration requirements and define the end configuration of the aircraft. The engineer will be involved in proposal activities which may include competitive analysis, domestic and international regulatory evaluation, technical document/presentation preparation. The engineer will be required to interface with the appropriate engineering disciplines within Sikorsky and/or completion center as applicable. Good communication skills are essential (written and verbal) as this position will have significant customer and supplier interface.
Preliminary design skills, with breadth of knowledge and some depth. Products are preliminary design configurations and derivative designs for various customers, RFP and RFI responses (technical definition, coordination with Platform Team), and support of marketing and sales (configuration definition responses to various customer requests). Engineering degree, preferably Aerospace, Electronic or Mechanical engineering is required. Knowledge of 3D design and CATIA skills is also useful, though not required.
Basic Qualifications BS in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with Three to Five years of design experience or 6 years of related engineering experience
Desired skills Broad understanding of Sikorsky Product Line and Business Development Process. Broad range of understanding of air vehicle systems and their interrelationships. Experience with customers and providing presentations desired. PC skills and the ability to accommodate changing priorities on a daily basis are a must. Strong communication skills required. U.S. citizenship or green card required.
Some travel (international and domestic), may be required.
Solicit functional engineering estimates and associated data, assemble AEM as needed, coordinate estimate inputs and coordinate engineering signature cycle.
Support development of proposal write-ups.
Manage and coordinate engineering Customer Requests For Information (RFIs) for proposal fact-finding and negotiations. Support negotiation.
