OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY Fabricate completely and visually verify all varieties and complexities of electronic and electrical harnesses for engineering development purposes. Install the assembled products into the next assembly and identify producibility issues for Engineering. Wire vehicles and structures in place from initial to final assembly applying shop theory and shop mathematics to determine the layout and length of harness routing for contoured and angled surfaces.

Perform mechanical assembly work related to installation of the assemblies such as torque processes and fastening techniques. Use best shop practice and available sources of information to determine sequence of rework operations. Work from blueprints, wiring lists, engineering sketches, schematics, wiring connection lists and other information and documentation.

Perform operations verification checks including in-process checks using appropriate equipment and procedures to assure accuracy of workmanship. Use all the tools, equipment and facilities necessary to perform assigned tasks. Recommend improvements to product and process quality, cost, and efficiency, and to the improvement of tooling, and other factors affecting quality and productivity in the workplace. Identify issues of stress relief and installation troubleshooting, applying complete knowledge of wiring methodology to reconcile development conditions.

Performs all work of the Cable Fabricator – Senior, as required: all activities supporting the development, manufacture, rework and repair of electrical and electronic cable assemblies including the operations verification of all in-process work to applicable standards, with little or no supervision.

Basic Qualifications Must be able to obtain certification in cable crimping, inspection and solder; must be able to obtain certification for filleting/bonding, mate/demate and ESD. Certification may be required in other skills necessary in the performance of this job.

Must possess complete knowledge of applicable specification requirements, rejection documentation, and operations verification requirements. Must be able to read and understand Log Books, Shop Orders, LAC Specifications, Design Standards, blueprints, wiring diagrams and other related documentation.

Must be able to calculate and measure using shop mathematics including fractions, decimals and metrics. Must be able to read, comprehend and follow instructions; must be able to report progress on work assignments. Must be able to perform to the time standards allocated. Normally requires a minimum of five years of directly-related experience.
