OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY This occupation requires the operation of forklifts and related combination lifting and transporting equipment.

WORK PERFORMED Determine proper method of loading, lifting, positioning, unloading, and/or moving and operate forklifts, lift trucks, and related equipment to lift, position and move between departments or areas, such items as raw materials, fabricated and purchased parts, vehicles and other electronic assemblies and other expensive and relatively unprotected equipment such as tools, machinery, jigs and fixtures where great damage would result from faulty handling. Move dies from storage lots, and position on bed of machines.

Load and unload aircraft, trucks and box cars by use of lift trucks when material moved is of the kind herein above described. Tow vehicles, aircraft and/or unprotected major assemblies from one location to another, exercising extreme caution to avoid damage by collision or rough handling.

Direct and perform the loading, securing and unloading of own loads as required.

Handle necessary paperwork; reconcile load with, and report discrepancies to proper personnel.

This position is specifically responsible for the collection and disposition of classified and proprietary materials across the campus. Will be responsible to ensure that all material is handled and accounted for per Federal government regulations and certify that material has been destroyed. Will be responsible for the security of locks and combinations used for the handling and securing of classified waste containers. Must be able to operate the classified waste truck in compliance with California State laws and LMSSC Rules and Instructions. Will be responsible for maintaining a container log and indicate the type, size and location of containers in use throughout the campus. Will ensure that the classified waste destruction area is kept locked at all times except to allow for the passage of authorized personnel or vehicles. Will be required to make end of shift inspection of area documenting no classified materials were left undestroyed.

Basic Qualifications Ability to operate forklifts, platform trucks, lift trucks, tractors, and die handlers, to lift and transport items where load size or configuration require skill in balancing and skill in maneuvering vehicle is required.

Knowledge of trucker practice and procedure including proper handling of expensive and relatively unprotected items. Know and observe plant trucking safety regulations.

Use arithmetic involving addition and subtraction. Follow instructions.

Must possess a valid State of California Class C driver's license. Must possess, or obtain within 90 days, all LMSC-issued safety licenses required by law to operate material handling equipment normally used by employees in this classification.

Desired skills • Knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) Chapter 5, Safeguarding Classified Information. • Candidate must be self-directed and have attention to detail. • Knowledgeable of all safety requirements involved in daily routines, including speed limits on and off LMSSC property. • Trained, cleared and certified to operate shredder related equipment including vehicles, forklifts, compactor and shred unit.
