This occupation requires the application of primer, protective and finish coatings of lacquer, enamel or similar paints, typically on interior surfaces of missiles and all surfaces of other Company products using spray equipment or brushes.
Position of decals and stencils where locations are made by measurement from established reference points or by use of template and shop aids. Apply primer and protective finish of lacquer, enamel or other paint typically on interior surfaces, flight hardware and non-flight support items apply prime, protective and final coatings of paint on other Company products, where specifications do not require special skills and techniques and requirements can be met by application in accordance with standard painting shop practice.
Mount decals on assemblies and equipment by referring to blueprints or production illustrations.
Mix or thin paints in accordance with predetermined proportions to obtain proper color and viscosity.
Perform rework and touch-up wherein the operations are the same as described herein.
Basic Qualifications This occupation requires the performance of miscellaneous manual operations and / or the helping of skilled or semi - skilled processing workers.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications and other authorized documents and use simple measuring devices. Ability to use spray guns, hand brushes and accessory equipment in accordance with usual paint shop practice. Ability to use arithmetic including addition and subtraction of decimals and fractions.
Knowledge of surface preparation.
Desired skills Knowledge of solvents, cleaners, water, acids, alkalies, lubricants, abrasives, paints, primers, thinners, sandpaper, masking tape, stencils, decals, putty, wax, rubbing compounds, wire.
