Lockheed Martin Solar Array Materials Engineer in Sunnyvale, California
This position is for a Parts, Materials and Processes (PMP) engineer in the Solar Array Center of Excellence, which is one of Lockheed Martin Space’s most innovative manufacturing facilities.
The candidate will work with a team of PMP engineers working on solar array design and manufacturing. Successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks, including engineering drawing review, manufacturing floor support and troubleshooting, subcontractor oversight, non-conformance evaluation, and review and approval of non-standard parts requests (NSPARs) and non-standard materials requests (NSMARs).
This position requires access to Export Controlled Information. US Citizenship is required.
Infrequent travel may be required.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Physics, Material Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related background or field of study. Familiar with a variety of PMP disciplines such as electronic parts, mechanical parts, composite materials, welding, brazing, adhesives, and/or bonding. Ability to multi-task, handle shifting priorities and timeline pressure to meet project deadlines. Self-starter who exercises latitude in independently developing solutions to technical issues.
Desired skills Experience with robotic manufacturing. Experience in solar cell and solar array design and manufacturing. Formal coursework, training, and/or experience in the design, analysis, and/or construction of electrical components and circuits. Strong writing, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of avoiding and mitigating counterfeit part usage. Experience evaluating high reliability commercial, NASA and/or military specification (MIL spec) parts for use in aerospace applications.
