The selected individual will work as part of a multi-contractor team providing direct support to our Combat Direction Systems Activity (CDSA) Dam Neck customer performing software and system engineering for shipboard and shore based training systems. The individual must be comfortable working independently in a customer environment, demonstrate qualities to dynamically adjust to customer desires and ability to provide innovative recommendations to solving training system issues. The work location for this position is “on-site” at CDSA Dam Neck and/or LM Corporate Landing facility. The support includes, but is not limited to, training systems components, architectures, communications, software, hardware, and documentation across the training systems products’ using agile development project life cycle. Specific activities to be performed consist of a wide range of system software development and life cycle maintenance tasks including: software analysis, design, code, production, software builds, unit test, integration, integration test, generation of software trouble reports for observed problems, problem resolution, configuration management of software products, support to technical design and review meetings, and support to various levels of customer acceptance test activities. This position may require occasional short term business travel.
Basic Qualifications • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. • Demonstrated experience in preparing and conducting presentations. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-contractor, collaborative environment with frequently changing priorities. • Modeling and simulation knowledge using standards such as High Level Architecture (HLA). • Experience with interpreting and understanding software architectures, requirements, and design. • Experience in defining solutions to engineering and software design problems using UML modeling tools such as the Rational Rose Product Family or Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect. • Experience with programming languages such as C++, JAVA, etc… • Experience in Linux OS such as Red Hat.
Desired skills • Experience with systems/software engineering/analysis, software design, and development in support of naval shipboard, surface or submarine training and/or combat systems. • Demonstrated skills in leading work groups with multiple resources from various organizations. • Experience using Base Object Models (BOM) standards. • Experience programming Network User Datagram and Transmission Control Protocol interfaces. • Experience using Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) standards. • Experience programming Java Script, XML, MS Windows shell scripts and MS Office application code. • Experience using the Firefox browser programmatically. • Experience and/or certifications related to Information Assurance (IA) standards, procedures, and policies. • Experience administrating Linux OS such as Red Hat and creating bash scripts. • Experience with agile software development methodologies and continuous integration. • Experience with automated functional and non-functional testing.
