Description: Here at Lockheed Martin's RMS business in Akron, OH, we are working on many exciting programs and developing advanced products to meet the complex needs of our customers. We are looking for a motivated, hard-working, and detailed-oriented Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering intern to work various tasks with direction from a senior lead engineer.
The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting engineers in the support and development of program products and systems in the areas of lighter-than-air, laser, and/or sensor systems. The candidate will also assist with various duties including developing designs; investigating design factors such as equipment or part availability, manufacturability, ease of assembly, weight and cost; assisting with testing and lab prototypes, networks, troubleshooting and correcting anomalies and discrepant hardware.
Basic qualifications for this role will include working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college. Course work should include basic Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering fundamentals. Candidate should exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, have strong interpersonal skills, and possess the ability to work in a collaborative, dynamic, and team-based environment.
A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
Candidates must have the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance to at least the Secret level.
Candidate should have an understanding and ability to apply basic Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering principles, theories and concepts. Solid math and science background. Aerospace related education/exposure. Knowledge of modeling and design concepts. Experience with CREO modeling or similar 3D CAD software.
