Lockheed Martin Sensemaking Research Area Program Manager in Arlington, Virginia

In this role you will serve as a Research Area Manager for Sensemaking technology within our Informatics Laboratory to develop and lead 15-20 technology professionals. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced leader with expertise in the application of state-of-the-art techniques in Sensemaking (e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Big Data techniques; Data Fusion; Machine Learning; Data Analytics; Human-Machine Interfaces; Game Theory; Agent based systems).

• Have technical acumen • Provide coaching and development opportunities to the research staff. • Maintain a “research culture” oriented environment encouraging innovation • Identify innovative technology opportunities. • Demonstrate strong people and technical leadership skills • Have experience leading and developing teams and organizing and managing multiple priorities. • Manage relationships with thought leaders from the DoD community; the Intelligence community, academia, and Science and Technology (S&T) research • Be a technical advocate for machine-based Sensemaking techniques and be capable of presenting complex technical issues to a non-technical audience • Develop customer advocacy – shape new program concepts with funding sources and align ATL investments and approaches to customer needs. • Generate winning proposals • Interact with Lockheed Martin internal and external stakeholders to define, manage, track, and report status on research area and program efforts.

Basic Qualifications • Advanced degree in Science, Math, Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering (Systems) or similar discipline with emphasis on the Sensemaking technologies e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Big Data techniques; Data Fusion; Machine Learning; Data Analytics; Human-Machine Interfaces; Game Theory; Agent based systems) • Strong technical depth in one or more of state-of-the-art techniques in Sensemaking: Artificial Intelligence, Big Data techniques; Data Fusion; Machine Learning; Data Analytics; Human-Machine Interfaces. • At least 5 years R&D experience as Program Manager or Principal Investigator for advanced information exploitation technology applied research projects • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security clearance that requires U.S. citizenship. Desired skills • 4 or more years of industry and/or government S&T (DARPA, AFRL, ONR) experience. • Prior proposal writing experience for DoD-funded contracts, teaming with university and or government lab researchers, and/or collaboration with small and medium size partner companies. • Experience designing techniques relevant to social media exploitation, open source text exploitation, image and video exploitation, multi-INT exploitation, or large-scale structured data exploitation • Proven record of winning and executing contract R&D programs. • Demonstrated successful leadership and customer advocacy across a portfolio of related research projects. • Established network in the research and technology communities in human systems integration. • Appreciation of and willingness to apply a systems engineering approach to complex software systems, and an ability to interact with other scientific and engineering disciplines in the development of complex DoD systems. • Familiarity and work experience in Command and Control (C2); Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) planning or analysis; Military Intelligence; Air, Space or Cyber Operations; or Special Operations. • Experience in transitioning technology from the research environment to users. • Willingness to travel.
