The Chief Ground Engineer is a key member of an experienced systems engineering team responsible for technical support of operations and maintenance for a complex distributed processing system. The individual filling this position will be responsible for directing and supporting problem and discrepancy evaluation and resolution, coordinating system interface issues. planning for engineering activities, developing and implementing operations concepts, developing technical processes, evaluating system design changes, impacting program assessments pertaining to engineering changes, and other engineering activities required for operations and maintenance of the system.

Responsibilities include the coordination of cross-program activities and initiatives with other Double Eagle departments, the developer, customer representatives, and other contractor organizations. This individual will provide technical briefings for internal and external customers and represent the program in meetings and formal settings; will lead and support problem investigations and identify and implement resolutions to minimize system downtime and operational risk; will formulate solutions to engineering problems and discrepancies; will assess system changes for cost, staff loading, scheduling, operability and maintainability impacts; may organize and lead integrated testing and support readiness exercises.

Typically has 14 - 20 years of professional experience.

Basic Qualifications:

- Engineering or technical background

- Experience with O&M functions

- Ability to lead and/or manage technical projects

- Ability to perform system analysis

- Good interpersonal and team skills,

- Strong verbal and written communications skills

- Experience and demonstrated expertise in specific key technical areas such as: data processing; data acquisition; data switching; data management; tools; SS core services; data services; interface services; forward and return strings; workstations; storage; servers; and networks.

- Demonstrated ability to engage, comprehend, and resolve technical issues requiring coordinated involvement of multiple groups including O&M Operations, engineering, factory developer, and the customer

- Systems engineering skills

- RFC evaluation and analysis skills
