This role is for the lead Product Quality Engineer supporting the VLS Program at the RMS Baltimore site (Middle River, MD). Candidate will be responsible for support of daily Product Quality Assurance Engineering activities as the Lead Product Quality Engineer involving mechanical, electrical and electromechanical hardware for the VLS Production Program. Candidate will interface with other function organizations to perform duties. Specific duties include preparation and review of production floor documentation including controls/routers, Inspection Plans, First Article Inspection Plans, etc. Other tasks include support of Preliminary Review and MRB Activities related to non-conforming material handling and documentation, foster documentation and closure of effective corrective and preventative actions strategies, and support of product inspection with guidance on methods and tools. It will be necessary for the successful candidate to work effectively supporting all disciplines at all levels from the shop floor to management. Responsibilities include providing support to Programs, Engineering, Manufacturing/Logistics, Program Quality and Inspection for hardware in all phases of a program life cycle.

Desired Skills: SAP application experience

Familiarity with IPC (610 and 620) and J-standards, printed wiring boards, circuit card assemblies, cables, and harness assemblies

Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)

Understanding of audit techniques.

Ability to use causal analysis tools to analyze and resolve technical/process issues varying from basic to very complex.

Data analytics experience, statistical process control

Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.

Experience with use of inspection gages and measuring equipment.

Advanced AS9100 Interpretation and application experience.

Experience working with Government customers (DCMA)

Effective Communication Skills: Written, Oral, Listening, Technical Writing.

Effective interpersonal skills, including Team building and Collaboration.

Strong knowledge of Industry recognized Quality systems such as ISO9001/AS9100

Experience in establishing Performance Metrics for identifying process improvement.

Knowledge of Configuration and Data Management

Proficient skill level with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Demonstrated Presentation skills

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in a related technical discipline

Demonstrated experience with Production and Manufacturing Operations

Engineering or Quality experience developing methods, work instructions and procedures for the inspection of manufactured products

Ability to interpret drawings and specifications to develop and apply quality test and inspection methods and able to translate into work instruction.

Experience in disposition of non-conforming products
