Lockheed Martin Aircraft Store Separation Engineer in Bethesda, Maryland
Become part of our team as an in-country engineer for the KF-X effort. This program provides technical assistance to Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to develop an advanced, multi-role fighter for the Republic of Korea Air Force. This position will be located in Sacheon, South Korea, and responsibilities include:
• Design Support of Store Integration - Store locations, pylons, tanks including capacities & type of weapons • Store Separation Analysis Support: o Tool setup of 6-Degree-of-Freedom (6DOF) off-line store separation simulation o Integration of modeling data into simulation tool Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis, handbook methods, bomb rack ejection forces, mass properties, missile propulsion, etc o Review and comment on the results of analysis • Store Separation Wind Tunnel Test Support - Test plan, testing(on-site), data reduction, integration of data into simulation model • Ground Store Separation Test Support - Test plan, testing, data reduction, integration of data into simulation model • Flight Test Support - Test planning, preparation, data reduction, comparison of simulations with flight test data
In addition to strong technical skills, the candidate should have a track record of success working in diverse groups where attention to the customer is paramount. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert and train and mentor customer engineers. Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Candidate must be able to relocate to Korea.
Basic Qualifications The successful candidate will have the following:
• Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience in military aircraft aerodynamics • Experience and skills mentoring and training other engineers
Desired skills The following are desired:
• Experience in store integration/separation of the fighter aircraft • Experience in store separation wind tunnel test, ground/flight test • Experience in store separation analysis, database build up, CFD, and modeling/simulation • Capability to perform flight test planning, data reduction, & tool development • Capability to develop flight manuals Additionally, • Exceptional interpersonal skills • Experience with military or government programs • Experience working with international customers, particularly the Korean Government or culture • Experience with Export Control Compliance
