Lockheed Martin HYDRAULICS Shop Chief/Training coordinator: TECHNICAN 4 in Bethesda, Maryland
Description: This position is located at Balad Air Base Iraq.
In addition to the responsibilities listed below, the Aircraft Hydraulic Shop Chief/ Training Coordinator will be the Hydraulic Shop point of contact for all maintenance and training activities related to Aircraft / back shop Hydraulic systems, and will be responsible for all aspects of production, training, housekeeping, shop requirements, scheduling and the safety of those assigned to the Hydraulic Shop. The Hydraulic SC/TC will prioritize and assign maintenance activities for Hydraulic shop technicians in order to provide the customer with safe and mission effective aircraft. The Hydraulic Shop Chief will also monitor section leave schedules, internal training, and the training of the IQAF customer.
This person will be responsible to assist with preparation, instruction, coordination and monitoring all training requirements (customer and LM) for this duty section. Other responsibilities include maintaining training records and preparing reports and other related training products as assigned by the CLS Training Manager. The Hydraulic SC/TC reports to the Back Shop Maintenance Manager.
I-level hydraulics technician: Overhaul knowledge of F-16 hydraulic and pneumatic components is a prerequisite. Have knowledge in the operation and use of the following shop/lab equipment i.e. Variable DC power supply, stereo microscope, ultrasonic cleaners, Permaswage field repair kit, fluid adapter kits, potting guns, bench grinder, high speed hand grinder, spot weld removal drill, torque wrenches, torque multiplier, torque adapters, bearing puller, spring compressors, roller staking tool, cap strip installation tool, arbor press.
Job requires precision measurements to be taken with various types of micrometers, depth micrometers, wide range calipers, inside/outside caliper, precision air gage & air ring gages, radius gages, monochromatic light & optical test flat, hand held multimeter, gas detectors analytical balances and force gages.
Must be able to troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and inspect various aircraft hydraulic and pneumatic components. Operate and maintains computerized hydraulic linear test stand, hydraulic motor & pump drive test stand, pneumatic component test stand, gaseous nitrogen valve test stand, spring resiliency test stand and O-Ring expanders. In addition to many specialized hydraulic component test stand fixtures.
Must be able to use A.F. technical orders, electrical and hydraulic schematics.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS/INFO: Candidate must be a high school graduate or have completed an equivalent program. Candidate must have held a USAF skill level 7 (or equivalent) in his career field. Candidate must have at least 4 years’ experience with F-16 aircraft maintenance activities. Progressive and documented experience in the fighter aircraft maintenance environment. Documented qualifications in related maintenance fields. Must have strong communications and interpersonal skills. Must read, write and speak English fluently. Must have or be able to rapidly secure a DOD secret clearance. Regularly required to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive movements, and perform work from ground level to overhead. This position requires frequent standing for long periods, walking, stooping, kneeling, squatting, crawling, and twisting.
Candidates must be willing and able to participate in all set-up activities, assist with receiving and storing supplies and support equipment. The site will still be under construction at the time of the first arrivals. Environmental/weather conditions can be extreme during different seasons. Site is a secure compound which team members will be confined to. Flexibility, a positive attitude and excellent people skills are a must.

*SECURITY Clearance REQUIRED. Must have an Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to start date AND must maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Aircraft Hydraulics Backshop documented experience
USAF 7 level or equivalent
I-level or backshop hydraulics experience
Experience with training foreign countries
Previous experience setting up maintenance work areas
A strong understanding of the maintenance process
Perform routine system troubleshooting, installation and repair.
Have a working knowledge of electronic and mechanical systems and components on the Fighter aircraft
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access)
Ground handling, minor maintenance, and servicing
Preflight/thru flight/post flight & BPO inspections
Min 4 years documented experience on the F-16 Aircraft / systems
Ability to speak/communicate in Arabic
