Lockheed Martin Life Support Equipment Technician in Bethesda, Maryland

Description: This position is Located at Balad Air Base, Iraq. Hired technician will onboard in Greenville SC, and work in Tucson, Arizona until multiple entry and exit Iraq visa is acquired. Technician will the permanently transfer to Life Support section in Balad, Iraq.

Technician 4 will perform inspections, installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of life support, associated components and select other pneumatic devices. Use and interpret Tech Orders and perform modifications. Assist with OJT instruction in support of follow-on training program. Plans and schedules life support and supply order activities. Establishes performance standards, improves work methods, and advises on inspection, repair, and repack of aircrew survival equipment. Checks repaired life support equipment and determines serviceability based on required specifications and technical publications. Evaluates problems and determines feasibility of repair or replacement related to inspecting and repairing fabric, rubber equipment, flights suits, JHMC’s helmets, and night vision googles (NVG’s).

Coordinate, facilitate, monitor, and ensure proper execution and documentation of all Lockheed Martin and IqAF training requirements in the work section. Other responsibilities include developing trainer/trainee assignments, maintaining training records, completing records reviews, preparing reports, and other related training products or activities as assigned by the Shop Chief, Operations Support Manager, and Balad IQ Training Branch. Instruct, train, advise and assist Iraqi Air Force (IqAF) Trainees with USAF model Life Support training plan for IqAF Trainee upgrading from 3 to 5-skill level and from 5 to 7-skill level. Roles and responsibilities of a trainer include; theories, techniques, and practical application of leadership/followership; stress management; problem solving; concepts of human behavior; methods of orienting new personnel; principles of motivating individuals within groups; applied problem-solving techniques in management, social issues, and labor relations; evaluation of personnel and effective team building. Principles of oral and written communications applicable to technician/communications by applying the principles and theories of oral presentations; application of effective writing principles include updating trainee’s records and preparation of letters and other written correspondence.

Attend all required daily, weekly, monthly maintenance production meetings, training meetings, teleconferences, and Lockheed Martin directed production meetings. Maintain, correct and ensure Life Support section abides within requirements of United States Government Compliance, LM Consolidates Flight Operations (CFOP) policies and or LM Performance Work Standard contracts.

Technician must be able to perform and pass annual Life Support Quality Assessment performance evaluations (PE's).

Many buildings at Balad are still being renovated; expect involvement with site set-up activities, to include light to medium construction activities such as assembling warehouse shelving and furniture in all areas of the maintenance complex. Candidates must be willing and able to participate in all set-up activities, assist with receiving and storing supplies and support equipment.

Environmental/weather conditions can be extreme during different seasons. Site is a secure compound which team members will be confined to. Flexibility, a positive attitude and excellent people skills are a must.

Duty day may vary with shift work.

*Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

*SECUIRTY CLEARANCE Required. Must be able to obtain an Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and must maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidate must have Air Force 7 level, or DoD equivalent. Must have been a 7-Skill Level Life Support (1T071) career field.

Must be qualified, have experience, knowledge, and skill training to perform duties of task(s) certifier and In-Process Inspector (IPI).

Perform routine system troubleshooting, installation and repair. Sewing fabric for installation and repair on flight suits or other aircrew life support systems.

Experience performing inspections, installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of life support, associated components and select other pneumatic devices.

Have a working knowledge of electronic and mechanical systems and components on the F-16 aircraft.

Previous Air Force or Survival Equipment or DoD equivalent experience.

Desired Skills:

Previous experience setting up maintenance work areas.

A strong understanding of the maintenance process.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access)
