Lockheed Martin Hardware Engineer in Bothell, Washington

Lockheed Martin's Laser Systems and Sensors Business is seeking a Hardware Engineer to join our team. Lockheed Martin's Laser and Sensor Systems delivers innovative laser solutions for the defense, aerospace, industrial, and scientific markets. The successful candidate will act as the Deputy High Energy Laser (HEL) IPT lead for one of our newest programs. They will work in a fast-paced environment on a variety of work products that will require a flexible and adaptable skill set, with a strong learning orientation. The types of work our Hardware Engineer will perform include:

•Support the IPT lead in the design, build, test, and delivery of our deliverables •Support the IPT lead in the development and documentation of various technical solutions of a maturing product •Apply technical knowledge to develop solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity •Perform Earned Value activities such as baselining, change requests, monthly status, variance reporting, schedule status, and actuals tracking •Develop and track action items to closure across multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient program execution •Develop and track system level metrics to communicate IPT progress •Lead small teams towards the completion of major program milestones under the general supervision of the IPT lead

The Locale: Bothell is a city located in the state of Washington in the Pacific Northwest. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. Bothell is home to Cascadia Community College and the University of Washington, Bothell.

Basic Qualifications •Experience in design, development, and delivery of a systems of systems. Preferably as a systems engineer, mechanical/electrical/optical engineer, integration & test engineer, or related discipline. •Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other organizations, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives. •Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite. •Strong analytical skills. •Self-starter that excels in a team environment.

Desired skills •Degree in Physics, Optics, Engineering or closely related technical field. •Experience in optical or laser systems is preferred. •Understanding of Earned Value Management principles. •Experience as a Control Account Manager on a US government defense program or relevant experience participating in an Earned Value Management System. •Strong knowledge of other related technical disciplines outside their subject matter expertise. •Previous IPT leadership experience.
