Lockheed Martin System Safety Engineer (early - mid career) in Centennial, Colorado

Supporting the US Navy Strategic Systems Programs and the Department of Defense, you will help test and develop a conventional prompt strike capability that could one day be fielded from US guided-missile submarines.
Lockheed Martin Space is looking for a System Safety Engineer to support the IR CPS program located in Centennial, CO. You will perform a variety of system safety engineering tasks to include analyzing flight and ground systems and recommending safety criteria in design, equipment, and procedures to control or eliminate hazards. In addition, you will develop safety documents as required to support customer and test/operational requirements, participate in incident investigations, and assist in identification of root causes and corrective actions.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in an Engineering or related discipline with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge/experience in system safety engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, or related field.
*Active Secret security clearance is required for this role.
Desired skills Prior experience performing system safety engineering analyses on government missile system development programs.
Prior experience with DoD/US Navy customer safety requirements or relevant industry standards.
Prior experience overseeing subcontractor safety programs and peer reviewing contractual deliverables.
Knowledge of systems engineering requirements derivation and flowdown processes.
Prior experience conducting incident investigations and/or root cause and corrective action analyses.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
