Lockheed Martin Manufacturing Build Team Director in Fort Worth, Texas

Description: This position is to lead the F-35 Electronic Mate and Alignment System Build Team as Director. The F-35 program is the largest defense contract in history and is well on its way to recapitalizing the air forces of the free world. The Fort Worth EMAS Build area is a crucial critical path component of this program, and is pivotal to maintaining success across the program. The Fort Worth EMAS Build Team is responsible for the major component Mate of the Forward Fuselage, the Center Fuselage, the Wing, and the Aft Fuselage assembly for deliveries worldwide. This team accomplishes that structural assembly, systems installation, and final finish work and subsequent delivery to the F-35 Fort Worth Final Assembly Build Team completed aircraft assembly to support the United States military and at least nine partner nation foreign military sales.

Responsibilities of this role will include Safety, Quality, Test, Schedule, Delivery, Cost, Training and Compliance performance and operational excellence for the EMAS Build Team, as well as the Integrated Product Team for control account managers within the earned value management system construct. Leads lower tier senior managers, technical leads, and manufacturing operational activities including facility and capital planning, tool utilization manufacturing plans, work flows, and crew loading. Responsible for strategic development and plan execution for the expansion from current production phase into Full Rate Production (FRP) that will equate to a >200% growth, in both operational stations and personnel, for the EMAS Build team. This growth will occur between now and when the EMAS Team achieves the full rate of production at a 1.5 day production interval in March of 2020. The EMAS Build team director will develop the overall strategy and execution for build area in the current state, as well as the transition into Full Rate Production (FRP).

Coordination as required with the Functional Organization, Production Engineering, other support organizations, and the Training Department in order to develop and deploy employees who are qualified and capable to perform in the EMAS build area. Responsible for yearly performance assessments and reviews for salaried employees. Responsible for continuous improvement, defect reduction, cost and span efficiency improvements, and safety of employees and aircraft in the area. This position requires the Director of EAMS to run the team in a manner that operates it successfully as a primary segment of the business, while maintaining balance and integration across the entire production system spanning the globe. The F-35 EMAS Director will closely coordinate with the F-35 Wing Systems and F-35 Final Assembly Directors for upstream and downstream integration.

Desired Skills: • Bachelors degree.

• Fighter Aircraft Production Operations experience.

• F-35 aircraft and 5th generation coatings knowledge and F35 Production Operations processes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• 10 years proven experience in a complex Production or related environment.

• Leadership experience.

• Demonstrated success in manufacturing execution in difficult environments including; managing a union shop, increasing volumes, significant labor increases, inconsistent material supply, producibility and quality challenges.

• Demonstrated Technical and Strategic Leadership abilities to drive actions to meet/exceed customer satisfaction.
