Lockheed Martin Infrared Detector Research Scientist in Goleta, California
Description: The research and development department at Lockheed Martin - Santa Barbara Focalplane is currently search for qualified Research Scientists to join our team focused on developing next-generation infrared barrier photo-detectors spanning from near-IR to long-wave IR.
The team member selected for this senior-level position will oversee semiconductor wafer characterization, as well as test infrared sensor focal plane arrays and test structures. Responsible for test setup, testing, documentation, and presentation of results to other team members, as well as customers.
Typical R&D responsibilities also include leading IRAD projects, providing technical direction, financial oversight, and customer interface for monthly presentations and/or final written reports. Work is performed on multiple IRAD and CRAD projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
The successful candidate shall demonstrate extensive knowledge of semiconductor device physics, as well as possess hands on experience in semiconductor characterization techniques.
Experience in MATLAB coding and Microsoft PowerPoint presentation creation is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to lead a team and build effective relationships are essential.
Must have the ability to obtain a secret security clearance so must be a US Citizen.
Experience with infrared detector characterization at focal plane array (FPA) and/or test structure (PEC or TS) level, and familiarity with focal plane array operation principles is desired.
Familiarity with molecular-beam epitaxy growth and/or III-V semiconductor processing techniques is a plus.
Active TS/SCI clearance.
Masters or Ph.D. degree in Materials Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or other related disciplines is preferred.
