Lockheed Martin Materials & Process Senior Engineer in Grand Prairie, Texas
Description: Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications. May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.
Materials & Processes support for missile and canister development efforts. This job will require material selection and testing experience and ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools. Tasks will include material evaluation of both missile and canister components and subassemblies, evaluation of material incompatibilities and evaluating and creating material protection requirements. Tasks will also include reviewing and signing off on drawings as well as creating M&P support documentation.
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.
Candidate MUST have the ability to travel and be willing to work off-site as needed for assignments.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other related field with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
Experience with material selection, material testing, and material testing processes.
Familiarity with environment specifications and evaluating materials based on those requirements.
Candidate must be capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and working in an inclusive, team environment.
Experience with Missile components and sub-assemblies
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry or Metallurgy desired
Experience with evaluating and developing material protection requirements
Experience with reading and interpreting blueprints, machine drawings, 2-D drawings, CAD drawings and material callouts and/or material processing note requirements.
Proven leadership with demonstrated interpersonal skills.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating M&P support documentation, material test plans, material and process reports, and potentially proposals are necessary.
Candidate must have strong analytical and organizational skills.
Familiarity with Missile programs at MFC a plus.
Existing and recent SECRET clearance within last 5 years
Familiarity with Lockheed Martin M&P standards and the PLM drawing release process is a plus.
