Lockheed Martin Mechanical Product Design Engineer / TDY FL / Grand Prairie, TX (DFW) in Grand Prairie, Texas

Description: ***This position is based in Dallas and requires frequent travel to Orlando.

***At hiring, the candidate will be required to provide temporary duty assignment (TDY) in Orlando for approximately 2-months to become acclimated with the program, staff, and responsibilities.

***After the acclimation period, the TDY will be terminated and the travel requirement will be reduced to approximately 25%.

-Lockheed Martin seeks an experienced Mechanical Product Design Engineer for a position in Grand Prairie to support a new Missile Development Program.

-The Mechanical Product Design Engineer will support New Design activity associated with the Air Vehicles Test Vehicle design, fabrication, integration, and testing.

-Tasks will include layout, packaging, conceptual and detail structural design of the Test Vehicles system and subsystem components.

-The product scope of this activity includes support to the design, procurement, and testing of missile hardware, systems, and subsystems.

Other notable tasks will include:

-Development of 3D drawing models and creation/release of 2D engineering drawings using 3D CAD Software, Pro/Engineer (CREO-3) and CATIA V5

-Interface development and generation of Instructional Engineering Release (IER) documents.

-Performance of Trade Studies and Tolerance Analysis.

-Requirements derivation / decomposition.

-Specification development / creation to suppliers for procured components

-Collaborate / Coordinate with other Mechanical Engineering (Structures, Thermal and M&P) and technical disciplines (Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Logistics & Sustainment Engineering), Procurement (Materials and Subcontract Management), Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Operations, and potential suppliers / vendors

-Extensive collaboration / coordination will also be required with the Mechanical Engineering design and Leadership team in Orlando.

Basic Qualifications:

Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an Active Department of Defense Secret clearance with a closed investigation (or re-investigation) within the past 6 years.

The candidate MUST be able and willing to travel to Orlando, FL and work on-site for Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) as well as be able to travel approximately 25% of time once TDY assignment is finished.

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience

Candidates will need to have strong conceptual and detail design skills (preferably PTC CREO and / or CATIA V5).

Knowledge of mechanical drawing standards.

Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Experience with detail, assembly, and installation type drawings.

Knowledge of manufacturing and manufacturing processes.

Desired Skills:

Computer Aided Design skills using PRO Engineer CREO-3 Software.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong organizational skills

Capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic environment, capable of working in an inclusive, team environment.
