Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our creative team of engineers performing research, design, analysis, evaluation, and testing in support of various program areas. The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in some of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control’s highly innovative solutions to complex technical problems facing the aerospace industry. Tasks could include being involved with the mechanical design, structural / dynamic analysis, thermal analysis, materials science and processes, mechanical testing, as well as a multitude of other engineering disciplines.

The candidate will be responsible for performing the design, analysis and testing of top level assemblies, subsystems, and components. Tasks may include the detailed design and layout work, generate solid 3D models, performing preliminary and detailed analysis on component and assemblies using industry leading processes and tools.

The candidate may also be providing support for materials development and hardware testing to determine mechanical properties, material behavior, structural or thermal performance of mechanical systems / subsystems / components.

The candidate may provide technical documentation and input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to program at technical interchange meetings, and design reviews.

Desired Skills: MS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or related field.

Highly desired that the candidate has education and exposure to one or more of the following areas:

1. 3D CAD modeling software (such as Pro/Engineer CREO-3).

2. Mechanical drawing standards.

3. Detail, assembly, and installation type drawings

4. Developing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and/or other tolerance analysis skills.

5. Structural analysis of assembly systems, subsystems, and components.

6. Structural analysis software (such as Nastran, ANSYS or Abaqus).

7. Core or second tier pre and post processing tools (such as Ansa, Meta, Hypermesh, Patran, and FEMAP).

8. Structural and dynamics analysis using classical analytical methods.

9. Thermal software (such as NX Thermal/Flow software suite).

10. Heat transfer analysis.

11. CFD software (such as Star CCM+, FlowEFD).

12. Matlab and MathCAD.

Proven leadership with demonstrated interpersonal skills are also desired.


-Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.

-Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.

-Must have at least 1 year of professional experience.

-Candidate must be capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and working in an inclusive, team environment. Considered a developing talent, and still a learner.

-Candidate must have strong analytical and organizational skills.

-Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

-Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating analysis plans and reports, test procedures and report, and potentially proposals are necessary.

-Candidate must have the ability to travel.
