Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is seeking new graduates for System Safety Engineering positions in Grand Prairie, TX!

The primary job duty will be to ensure that the products developed at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control and sold to the customer are safe for use by performing Hazard Analysis per MIL-STD-882 and contract requirements.

Duties include:

The successful System Safety Engineer is required to be highly proactive and be able to handle significant responsibility

The candidate will employ design analysis techniques which will be performed on the engineering product

Develop System Safety for environmental compliance, prohibited materials, hazardous materials management, and pollution prevention

Independently analyzes and recommends safety features and controls for system design, software, training and procedures to mitigate or eliminate hazards and ensure hazard controls are implemented and verified

Assure the program defines and collects evidence in meeting established software safety requirements

Support to test activities

Support to design reviews and customer briefings

Candidate will interface with Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineering disciplines on a daily basis and should have strong interpersonal skills and a desire to learn

Candidate will spend majority of time working in a team environment, providing inputs to the software and systems engineers, performing analyses, and writing reports.

There may be some travel

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an Engineering or related discipline

Candidate must have or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance

Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office applications including a high level of proficiency with Excel

Strong written and oral communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective working relationships

Desired Skills:

Electrical Engineering Degree

Active Secret clearance

Ability to make formal presentations to large groups and be able to interact well in a team atmosphere with engineers, subcontractors, program managers and customers during the investigation, documentation and resolution of system failures

Effective analytical problem solving skills, the ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy, be able to learn and work with software tools

Candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing assigned tasks with minimal oversight

System Safety Engineering experience with:

- Missile/ordnance and/or Laser safety experience

- Developing & interpreting System Safety requirements / flow-down requirements

- Performing Safety Hazard analyses (Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Functional Hazard Analysis, Software Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Threat Hazard Assessment (THA), bent pin analysis/energy trace, & Safety Assessment Reports (SAR))

- System Safety Program Plan Development

- Software Safety analysis per AMCOM 385-17 and AOP 52

- Range Safety experience with RCC-319

System and/or software engineering experience

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Familiar with Military specifications/standards

Military experience
