Lockheed Martin Wind Tunnel Operator / Machinist / Third Shift / Grand Prairie, TX in Grand Prairie, Texas
Description: Under the direction of the Lead Engineer or Lab Manager, selected candidate will assist in operating and maintaining the wind tunnel laboratory and equipment. Position requires a general knowledge of laboratory operations and test procedures, shop mathematics and familiarity with engineering terminology.
Selected candidate will:
Install wind tunnel models and test specimens, as well as a variety of specialized mechanical, electrical and electronic test equipment.
Operate wind tunnel test equipment, including making accurate adjustments to various mechanical and electrical control systems.
Ensure that equipment is properly maintained.
Perform maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical wind tunnel equipment.
Participate in the trouble-shooting of laboratory systems.
Selected candidate will also be responsible for:
Maintaining accurate operations records and stock inventory records in computerized data bases.
Monitoring test equipment and conditions to ensure accurate test results and to avoid damage to the test facility.
Candidate must be able to use shop machines such as lathes and milling machines and have minimal restrictions to physical activity. Candidate must be able to support night shift operations and required overtime. At least 1 year of machining experience in a shop environment is desired. Selected candidate must possess or be able to obtain within a reasonable amount of time a DoD Secret security clearance.
