Description: We are looking for a Chief Engineer with strong

Leadership and Mechanical and Electrical Design

experience to lead the Special Operations Forces

Global Logistics Services (SOF GLSS) Rotary Wing

(RW) team. This position will report to the SOF GLSS

Engineering Director and support the RW mission

area Director with program execution. The position is

responsible for the design integrity and contract

performance for unique SOF equipped configurations

of rotary wing platforms for US and International

SOF customers. The position must maintain the

design integrity in a customer mission focused

environment. Expect a high tempo of Task Orders,

having PoPs from Days to Months. The Government

Owned Contractor Operated (GOCO) site presents

unique challenges in design tools, IT infrastructure,

and network connectivity with LM. The SOF GLSS

IDIQ has 9 of 10 years remaining in the period of

performance.

The successful candidate must possess a proven

ability to lead all aspects of site planning, innovative/

rapid concept design and implementation, and must

be Customer focused. The individual must have the

experience, drive, and demonstrated capability to

lead a team of approximately 25-30 engineers –

primarily Mechanical Design and Stress/Dynamics

Analysis with an Electrical Team for Design and

Analysis – to provide technical excellence and

mission success. The position requires excellent

leadership skills and demonstration of all the tenants

of Full Spectrum Leadership in previous assignments.

This position requires effective task organization and

communication skills to lead a team of engineers at

the Lexington, KY site. The position is also

responsible for proposal activities and development

of concepts to integrate into the Rotary Wing

strategic roadmaps. Good customer negotiation skills

are extremely beneficial. Excellent oral and written

communication skills are a must. The successful

candidate will be required to communicate technical

status and issues internally to program leadership,

technical leadership and functional leadership.

Working knowledge of dealing with subcontractors

and subcontract technical management is a plus.

Domestic travel will be required and infrequent

foreign travel is also possible.

levels of staff, management and customers. Must be

able to deliver tough messages.

•Candidate needs to understand military standards,

requirements and products and have experience

coordinating, planning, preparing and executing

military ground and flight testing.

•Candidate needs to have a strong technical

background with proven technical problem solving

skills.

•B.S. engineering or technical degree

•Must be able to obtain & maintain a secret security

clearance.

Desired Skills:

•Leadership skills (Full Spectrum Leadership

characteristics)

•Detailed knowledge and experience in the

maintenance and testing of rotary wing aircraft.

•Experience in maturing hardware from concept to

development then production

•Aircraft level/Platform level integration and test

activities

•Detailed understanding of the military airworthiness

process

•Experience in integration and test

•Experience with SOF customers

•Experience in all program phases and ability to work

with teams in all phases

•Experience with IDIQ contracts and proven

experience and understanding of SOF GLSS business

climate and familiar with rapid response programs.

•Experience with UH-60 Black Hawk, Chinook, or MH-6 Little Bird aircraft is a plus.
