As a Software Engineer, you will participate in research, development, flight acceptance, and qualification testing of components and systems. Testing operations may involve hazardous commodities and dynamic events and need to be operated and controlled remotely.

Summary of Key Duties for this position:

• You will work as a team member in a software development, instrumentation, and electrical design group to perform maintenance and new development activities of commercial solutions and/or custom data acquisition and control hardware and software needed to support testing.

• You will develop software and/or hardware solutions for control, data acquisition, and instrument drivers.

• You will perform system integration, checkout, and validation tasks in conjunction with electrical technicians.

• You will interface with program customers to determine test system requirements and perform electrical/instrumentation/software design functions and lead troubleshooting efforts.

• You will plan, direct, review, and coordinate project documentation to ensure customer, contract, and company requirements are met.

• You will collaboratively refine requirements to ensure that the intent is met even when not explicitly stated in requirements.

• You will prepare specifications, evaluate vendors, and analyze test data and reports.

• You will work integrally with other mechanical, software, and test engineers and technician staff and communicate complex technical ideas to an audience with varied technical backgrounds.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineer or Physics or related discipline with coursework in software programming from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education.

• Software programming experience including LabVIEW.

• Experience with electrical systems and electronics.

Desired Skills:

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Laboratory experience.

• Additional programming experience; Python, MATLAB, or C/C++ preferred.

• Experience with data acquisition equipment and industrial control systems.

• Experience with alternative desktop operating systems (other than Windows and Mac OS) such as Linux.

• Familiarity and troubleshooting skills related to the inner workings of computers.

• Understanding of computer networking. Experience with various instrumentation technologies for measurement of test parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow rate, acceleration, velocity, displacement, etc. under various environmental conditions.

• Experience with designing electrical systems that comply with hazardous classification electrical codes that utilize intrinsic safety and/or explosion proof equipment.

• Knowledge of mechanical systems and components such as rotary and linear actuation devices, vacuum, high pressure, cryogenic, and thermal conditioning systems.
