Will be part of the Aegis Modernization Team supporting Aegis Combat Systems Ship Installation Test and Trials in Norfolk, Virginia and with our Navy customer. Primary responsibility centers around the installation, test and repair of Combat System equipment (ORDALTS, SHIPALTS, FMB’s) on USN and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) surface combatants throughout the world.
Will perform duties as an AEGIS Computer Network Technician (ACNT) providing Computer and Display Systems maintenance support aboard AEGIS Destroyers and AEGIS Cruisers as a Team Member on the AEGIS Modernization Team (AMT) - West based in San Diego, CA. Selected applicant will directly interface with Government, Ship Repair, Various Contractor Organizations, and ships company to provide effective and timely reconciliation of hardware, software, and network challenges and provide training to ships force on the operation and maintenance of new baseline Aegis equipment.
Position requires shift work, brief at-sea periods and periodic travel supporting assessments, fleet emergent requirements and equipment installation events and issues.
The position will require working flex hours, overtime and on occasion weekends and holidays. Travel may be temporary or extended duty travel to Moorestown NJ, Bath ME, Pascagoula MS, San Diego CA, Mayport FL, Pearl Harbor HI, Everett WA, and Yokosuka Japan.
Will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and will also be required to submit to drug screening per company policy. Extensive travel will be required; as much as 25%.
Experience repairing/maintaining electrical, mechanical and electronics equipment
Ability to read and interpret equipment upgrade/repair instructions
Shipboard Electrical and Mechanical Hardware identification/awareness
Basic knowledge Microsoft Office programs
Familiarity with basic Personal Protection Equipment
Good organizational skills/Detail oriented
Must be able to work in a multi-corporate team environment, possess strong communication skills and display solid personal computer skills to include MS Office applications. Thorough understanding of US Navy preventive and corrective maintenance and proficiency in reading technical documents. Familiarity with hardware, software, network test equipment used to evaluate and correct operational failures (i.e. fiber optic testers, multimeter's, o-scopes) -Must be able to obtain & maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- US Navy 2M and 3M training
- UNIX-based open architecture experience and its application to the U.S. NAVY Aegis Computing Infrastructure (ACI).
- Experience with testing of fiber optics cables
- Working knowledge of Ethernet LAN technology ---Experience in AEGIS Combat Systems as an AEGIS Computer / Display / ACNT technician with a thorough understanding of Baseline 6.3, 7.1, 7.1R, ACB08, and/or BL9; and/or applicable training in other military services.
-Travel may be required up to 50 percent of the time. - Must be in physical condition to support embarkation on U.S. Navy ship underway for short periods.
-Must be able to obtain & maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Ability to read to and interpret equipment drawings, Wire Connection List’s, and Installation Control Drawings
Post high school education in a scientific or technical field of study.
- Knowledge of, or experience in, other functional equipment areas of the Aegis Weapon System to include UYQ-70 Display equipment, ORTS MK 9 Mod 1 or DTS-1, LAN architecture, routers, CEC, BFTT, COTS-based processing systems used onboard AEGIS Ships or other military UNIX/LINUX based equipment.
