Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the Machining Operations Center (MOC) within the Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) facility located in Orlando, FL. MOC produces ultra-precision machined components that are the foundation of infrared and electro-optical targeting systems used primarily for defense applications. The components supplied by this center support sales in excess of $1B annually.

Job Performance Responsibilities:

•Mfg. Engineering lead responsible for the overall manufacturing effectiveness of assigned projects/programs.

•Collaborate with NC Programmers, Tool Designers, Industrial Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Production stakeholders to develop and maintain manufacturing process plans (MPP's) identifying the most appropriate equipment (CNC mills, lathes, etc.), methods, special processes, and fixturing required to manufacture precision machined components.

•Create/modify detailed work instructions, mfg. sketches, and other shop floor documentation to support the aforementioned.

•Provide shopfloor support as necessary to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.

•Investigate and perform Root Cause analysis of component non-conformances and ensure implementation of effective Corrective Action.

•Monitor and report on quality, schedule, and cost performance of assigned projects/programs.

•Perform other duties as assigned.

•Willingness to learn and receive training, and when required, train others.



Basic Qualifications:

•Broad understanding of machining (CNC lathes, CNC mills, etc.) capabilities, methods, cutting tools, and fixtures used to manufacture precision components made from aluminum alloys, stainless steels, titanium and other common aerospace alloys.

•Good drawing/blue-print and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) interpretation skills.

•Proficient utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) – PTC Creo or equivalent.

•Basic knowledge of precision measuring tools, gauges, and equipment.

•General understanding of typical Mil-Spec special processes (heat treatment, chem-film, anodize, passivation, organic coatings, etc.).

•Good interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

•Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

•Effective project management.

•Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering/Technology with (2) yrs min. relative experience, or equivalent experience/combined education with (7) years professional Mfg. Engineering experience.

Desired Skills:


•Windchill PLM

•General knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools, including Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC)

•Familiarity with ISO9000 and AS9100 industry standards, and common military specifications.
